I love this post and your blog. It helps me see the term bootstrapping in a new light. One of the things I like to use to help me declutter all aspects of my life is to design my ideal life. Then I ask the question "does this thing, person, job, etc. help me get to my ideal life?" if not it is gone. Many times it is easier said than done but it feels so good to get rid of the clutter.

Good information! When presenting job history information whether on social networking sites or resumes, job seekers need to keep in mind that being creative is important. Job history should reflect skills and responsibilties that relate to the position you are interested in. Resumes that are taylored to the specific job title can make those seemingly "embarassing" jobs relavent.

Another point about LinkedIn and other social sites, employers will often look online to verify information you provided in the resume and application. Don't get caught in a lie!

By the way, here is a previous post that links to a great article regarding promoting yourself when searching for a job: http://lbwong.wordpress.com/2010/06/24/find-a-job-by-…oting-yourself/.

Thanks! LB
